Recent project - recovering Hokusai's hanga print
Recently I completed a challenging project of recovering one of Hokusai's hanga prints. The client's request aims at remaking one of his Hokusai collections and presenting it in a modern way.
As Hokusai is one of the representing hanga masters in late Edo period, remaking his work is surely not easy. By the opportunity I studied not only Hokusai's art features but also his life, tried understanding his art following his life experiences. While the hand-drawing of Hokusai's work, I definitely felt that he is teaching me how to think art in a Japanese perspective. What a great experience for me as well !
