ABOUT MID AUTUMN FESTIVAL
Mid Autumn Festival is known as Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, is a traditional festival celebrated by the communities in East and Southeast Asia.
The festival is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese #lunisolar calendar with a full moon at night, corresponding to mid-September to early October of the Gregorian calendar. On this day, the Chinese people believe that the moon is at its brightest and fullest size, coinciding with harvest time in the middle of Autumn.
Since it is a festival which can be traced back to 3000 years ago, I created the design based on ancient Chinese characters of mid autumn.
Also considering the cultural background I uses golden color to represent prosperity and good fortune.
The Stamp form, also known as Seal form, is a traditional form of art that originated in China and later spread to East Asia.
This art form can be traced back to nearly 4000 years ago. Surprisingly it keeps its original form even in a very long history. It is also regarded as the earliest form of Chinese style graphic design.
The ancient Chinese character I used can be regarded as Seal script. During the designing I tried arranging the characters and making them perfectly fit into the considered shapes (circle, square, rectangle, etc.), meanwhile keeping good spacial balance and stability.
I hope this work will bring you new ideas of typography design, as well as a good opportunity to enjoy the Mid Autumn Festival.
